As a result of her experience and special training, Randi L. Karmel Esq has been certified/ qualifiedto be appointed by the Judges in the First Department which encompasses New York County to represent children in matters involving contested custody and parental access issues. In the past she has was also certified by the Second Department and was appointed to represent children in Kings County.
Ms. Karmel’s early legal career included serving as an Assistant District Attorney being promoted thru several bureaus, including the Major Narcotics Investigations Bureau, Felony Trial Bureau, the Domestic Violence Bureau and the trials of Felony cases. Ms. Karmel appointments also included work as Special Counsel and also as the Deputy Inspector General in the New York City Department of Investigation.
During the past 15 years Randi has concentrated her practice exclusively in Matrimonial and Family Law. She represents both men and women in matters involving
– property distribution,
– child support,
– custody and parental access,
– domestic violence,
– relocation and
– pre-nuptial; post nuptial agreements,
– grandparents rights, termination of parental rights and abuse and
– neglect matters which are often in Family Court.
She has handled high net worth matters as well as matters where she was appointed by the State. Her trial experience expands from hearings to full trials. Although a litigator, she has settled more cases than she has litigated and makes every effort to foster an amicable resolution before resorting to litigation.
Ms. Karmel received her law degree from American University. She is admitted to practice in the New York, New Jersey, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Randi is a member of numerous Bar associations and has lectured on matrimonial issues to various entities and groups. She is a Board Member of JALBCA (Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert) and is on the Executive Board of Directors of Savvy Ladies, an organization designed to financially educate women.
